Yesterday I had several calls from Oldham Civic Centre regarding my home school. They said a parent normally places and interest with the local council first, before withdrawing the children, and that I needed to meet with him as soon as possible, and until that time my children would stay registered at school and would be marked absent! The school also confirmed that they had heard from Mr. S and were under instructions not to remove my son's name. So this morning I got the information Mr. S said I required "before they could be taken off the schools registers" ... it said "when you are certain you want to home educate you must inform your school in writing. It is then the school's responsibility to contact the LA" .... so i'd done it right all along. I knew I had! He confirmed he would ring the school immediately and get the de-registration done.
After our hectic morning, day 1 at Siddy Academy began! Writing a poem for the 8 year old and drawing a picture about the poem, completing a confused times table square...whilst being timed, and reading. More of the same for the younger two but at each of their individual levels. We then made a couple of banana bread loaves for science class :)
Today was such a positive experience for me. The boys said they loved it too. I can't wait for tomorrow.
